Common questions

What is Hard Hat Way?

Hard Hat Way is a social platform and toolkit built for construction workers and tradespeople worldwide. It is a place to showcase your work, build your reputation, connect with customers and use professional tools, all around one idea: pride and quality over speed and greed.

Where is Hard Hat Way available?

The app is available on the App Store and Google Play worldwide. UK homeowners can also post a job from this website without the app. Wherever you are, if you take pride in your trade, Hard Hat Way is for you.

Is Hard Hat Way free to use?

Yes. Hard Hat Way is free to download and free for customers. Trades can add an optional Pro subscription for extra features. Pro is managed and billed by Apple or Google, depending on where you subscribed, and the plans and prices are shown in the app and on our pricing page.

How do I create an account?

Download Hard Hat Way from the App Store or Google Play and follow the sign-up steps. Choose whether you are a trade or a homeowner, set up your profile and you are in. If you posted a job from the website, an account has already been started for you under the email you used: sign in with that email in the app to pick the job up.

How do I manage or cancel my Pro subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google, not by us. On iPhone: open Settings, tap your Apple ID, then Subscriptions, and choose Hard Hat Way. On Android: open the Play Store, tap your profile, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. You can cancel at any time and Pro stays active until the end of the current billing period.

How do I delete my account?

In the app go to Settings, Account, Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and personal data. You can also email support@hardhatway.com from the account's email address. See the account deletion page for full details.

How do I report inappropriate content?

Tap the report button on any post, comment or profile that breaks our guidelines. You can also email moderation@hardhatway.com with details. All reports are confidential.

Someone has used my content without permission. What do I do?

Report the content in the app or email support@hardhatway.com with the subject "Copyright Report". Include details of your original content and the infringing post. See our Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy.

What is SiteCred?

Trades rate trades. A plumber's work, rated by other plumbers who spot what you can't. It can't be bought. SiteCred is informational and does not guarantee the quality of any work or any user.

What are Site Calls?

A Site Call is a job a customer has posted. Nearby trades can quote on it, the customer chooses one, and the work is arranged between the two of them. Hard Hat Way is not a party to that agreement and does not guarantee work.

How is my data protected?

Your data is stored securely using Firebase by Google, payments are handled by Apple or Google, and we comply with UK GDPR, EU GDPR and CCPA. Read the full Privacy Policy.

Posted a job on the website?

Jobs posted from hardhatway.com work a little differently to jobs posted in the app. Here is what to expect.

Where are my quotes?

Every quote comes as an email from noreply@hardhatway.com with a link to your job page. Check your spam folder if nothing has arrived. The link lasts 30 days from the last activity on the job.

The link has expired

Email support with the job title and the email address you used to post it, and we will send you a fresh link.

I chose a trade, what now?

You both got an email with each other's phone number. The conversation carries on by phone, or in the app if you have it.

I already have an app account

Post from the app instead. The website form is for people without an account, and jobs posted in the app get everything the app does: messages, photos and the job tracker.
