Community guidelines

Hard Hat Way is a community built on pride, quality, and respect. These guidelines exist to make sure everyone — from first-year apprentices to time-served veterans, no matter where in the world you are — feels welcome, valued, and safe on the Platform.

1. Our Values

  We celebrate work done properly. Take pride in the craft, not just the speed.

• Respect the Trade

  Every trade takes years to learn. Respect the skill and the people behind it.

• Support Each Other

  Lift people up. Share knowledge. Help the next generation do it right.

• Keep It Real

  Authentic work, honest opinions, genuine community. No faking it.

2. Quality Over Speed

Hard Hat Way was built on a simple belief: the best tradespeople are the ones who take pride in doing things properly — not the ones who do it fastest.

This includes, but is not limited to:

• Content promoting or showcasing speed-laying competitions or events
• Posts celebrating speed records, "fastest bricklayer" claims, or similar
• Promotion of brands, events, or organisations whose primary focus is speed-based competition in the trades

This isn't about restricting what you can say — it's about protecting what this platform stands for. Hard Hat Way is a space for tradespeople who believe that reputation is built on quality, not speed. Content that conflicts with this ethos may be flagged for review and removed.

If your passion is speed competitions, there are other places for that. Hard Hat Way isn't one of them.

3. Be Respectful

Treat every user the way you'd want to be treated on site. Disagreements are fine — personal attacks are not. Hard Hat Way has zero tolerance for:

• Bullying, harassment, or intimidation
• Racism, sexism, homophobia, or any form of discrimination
• Threats of violence or harm
• Targeting someone because of their trade, experience level, or background

Constructive criticism of work is welcome. Tearing someone down as a person is not.

4. Keep It Safe

Construction is a dangerous industry. We have a responsibility to promote safe practices.

• Do not post content that shows or encourages unsafe working practices
• Do not glorify working without proper PPE, at dangerous heights without protection, or in conditions that put people at risk
• If you spot something unsafe, you can report it — keeping each other safe is part of the community

5. Be Honest

• Only post work that is genuinely yours unless clearly credited
• Don't claim qualifications, certifications, or experience you don't have
• Don't create fake accounts or impersonate other users
• Don't manipulate SiteCred scores, reviews, or engagement

6. No Spam or Self-Promotion Abuse

Sharing your work and your business is what Hard Hat Way is for. But there's a line between showcasing your craft and spamming the feed.

• Don't flood the feed with repetitive posts or adverts
• Don't send unsolicited messages to promote your services
• Don't use Hard Hat Way primarily as an advertising platform

7. Respect Other People's Work

Every photo on Hard Hat Way represents someone's hard graft. Respect it.

• Don't repost someone else's content without permission
• Don't screenshot and share content outside the app without the creator's consent
• Don't claim credit for work you didn't do

8. Look After Each Other

The construction industry has one of the highest rates of mental health struggles in any sector, in every country. Hard Hat Way takes this seriously.

• Be mindful that your words affect real people
• If someone is clearly having a tough time, be kind
• Don't post content that mocks or dismisses mental health

9. Reporting and Enforcement

If you see something that breaks these guidelines, report it using the in-app report button or email support@hardhatway.com. All reports are confidential.

We take violations seriously. Depending on the nature and severity, consequences range from a warning to permanent account removal. See our Content Policy for full details on how we moderate and enforce.

10. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines as the Platform grows. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
